Wardens
There are 3 Wardens for each church of the Parish who are responsible for administering the financial and property affairs of the church. Two (2) qualified persons who represent the congregation ie People’s Wardens are elected by the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and one (1) qualified person called the Rector’s Warden, is appointed by the Senior Minister.
Parish Nominators
Nominators are responsible for selecting a new minister. Although they may not have any work to do in the near future, their election is very important. Nominators are elected for the Parish rather than any one church.
Synod Representatives
Our church elects 2 Synod Representatives at the AGM for the whole parish. Synod Representatives are elected for a period of 3 years. They represent our parish, attending meetings of the Diocese ie Synod.
Criteria for being on Parish Council or a Nominator
Candidates need to be active, regular members of Figtree Anglican Church. In writing to Timothy (1 Timothy 3), Paul emphasises the importance of appointing mature Christians who are above reproach and lists the qualities they should have.
At FAC we seek to appoint people who are also actively committed to and involved with achieving the mission and vision of our church. At FAC, Wardens, Council members, Nominators and Synod Representatives have been the first to sign our annual commitment card indicating their financial contribution to the church.
Visit the Sydney Anglican Diocese website Parish Council, for more information about the role of Parish Council and criteria for being nominated and elected to a position.
Notice to persons seeking Election or Appointment
NOTE: Persons who are prohibited persons under the Child Protection (Prohibited Employment) Act 1998 (NSW) are not permitted to be appointed or elected to a position as Church Warden, Parish Councillor, Nominator, Synod Representative or committee member of a Parish Council committee.
