Compassion

Children in our project
Children matter to God

In October 2009 FAC entered into a partnership with Compassion because they are Christ-centred and child focused in being advocates for children; an alignment which takes seriously God’s mandate to be an activist for children, not just through what we believe but through putting belief into practical action.

For us at FAC, the focus of our partnership is to be actively involved in helping to reduce the incidence of children in the north of Thailand being trafficked or sold into the sex slave industry by supporting Compassion programs run through local churches. We chose Baan Huey Nam Kun, a small a village about 100km southwest of Chiang Rai, Thailand for our partnership because of the close geographic location of Thailand, the extreme isolation and vulnerably of the children who live in the north, and because Thailand is a source, transit and destination country for child trafficking.

The strategies Compassion have in place have enabled us to become involved in life changing work of the Gospel, in a location and in a way we could never achieve on our own.

Leadership Team

One of our 2009 Gift Day projects provides funds to Compassion, to provide child protection training and resources across the nation of Thailand, through 240 Compassion centres. The training raised awareness of child rights and child protection issues, educating parents, church leaders and those who care for and interact with children.

Individual families within FAC also took up the opportunity to change the life of a child, through child sponsorship; a holistic program which provides spiritual, economical, social, physical and emotional needs of these precious children.  Our families currently sponsor 44 children through our partnership with Mae Nam Kun Church in the small town of Baan Huey Nam Kun, Chiang Rai, with funds generated from our Oasis Cafe, sponsoring twins!
